After Care for Tattoos
So now that you got your new tattoo, how do you take care of it?
Tattoo Care
The first few days after getting your new tattoo are very important to the rest of your tattoo's life.
Keep the tattoo covered with the plastic bandage for up to 2 HOURS.
As soon as the bandage is removed, or falls off, GENTLY WASH with antibacterial soap from a pump and water and PAT DRY with clean towel.
Prevent clothing and jewelry from rubbing on the tattoo.
DO NOT reapply bandage.
Allow your tattoo to air dry for at least 24 HOURS after removing the bandage. This means no lotions.
After 24-48 hours, if your tattoo feels excesively dry or tight, you can apply a small amount of H2Ocean lotion or Lubriderm lotion with CLEAN HANDS. Only use lotions that do not contain petroleum.
Limit use of lotion to 2 times daily.
DO NOT use any petroleum based ointments on your tattoo such as A&D or Neosporin.
If a serious health condition develops such as extreme redness, major rash, bleeding or discharge, consult a physician.
DO NOT PICK OR SCATCH YOUR TATTOO NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT ITCHES!!!!
Instead, let the skin do what it naturally does. It will develop a thin flaky layer of dead skin. Let it fall off on its own. Be careful not to wear tight fitting clothing over your new tattoo for at least two weeks. Try not to have clothing rub across your new tattoo.
